Technology Project History

In the spring of 2011, the Signal Hill Education Foundation held two initiatives to expand technology at Signal Hill School. One was our Spring Gala at Eckert’s Orchard. This wine tasting event attracted over 100 school and community members and raised over $17,000. The other was our first business collaboration with Art Classics, Ltd of Trenton that raised $18,000 for the school. For information about this collaboration please check our Donate section (Past Successful School Partnership). These two events provided funds to purchase Promethean interactive boards and related technology for Signal Hill School classrooms.

The fundraiser at Eckert’s was a huge success for SHEF and for Signal Hill School;  interactive Promethean Boards are already installed in three classroom and the goal is to fill all the classrooms with the boards, according to Superintendent Suzette Lambert.

Corporate sponsors for the event included the following:

  • Hoffman & Slocomb, LLC
  • Jim & Mary Kelley
  • Print Master
  • William & Carla Sauerwein
  • Boeing
  • Friends of Signal Hill School
  • Lindenwood University
  • Mark & Kathy Slocomb

In 2012, SHEF purchased and installed the first three Promethean boards at the school, and prior to that, the Foundation funded technology grants in access of $25,000 for projects at the school.

School Board President Laura Sforza commented, “The Signal Hill Education Foundation once again brings our community together to celebrate education opportunities at Signal Hill School.  Our students will be better prepared for high school and life because of the generous donations for technology enhancements of the Promethean Project.”
